This is a community marketplace to extend the selling season for farmers as well as invite community members to join in celebration of the wide array of regional farms/food producers available.

On Saturday, December 17 from 10 am to 2 pm, Berkshire Grown will present more than 70 regional farmers, food producers and artisan crafters to the Berkshires at the last Holiday Farmers’ Market of the season.

In addition to farm and artisan food products, the Great Barrington market will feature items including wool, pottery, candles, soap, lotions, herbals, flowers and jewelry with new vendors Asia Luna, Bean Yarn, Berkshire Orchids, Lorna’s Naturals, Moho Designs, North Plain Farm Weaving and Pamela Read Hardcastle Garden & Floral Design plus a Metroland table and wares from market sponsor Kripalu’s gift shop. The Williamstown market will highlight new products/vendors at the December 17 market including handmade herbal soaps, glass beaded jewelry, handmade bags, silk-screened organic clothing, woodcraft and artisan breads from vendors including Dancing Bare, Memphremagog Studios, Erin Kaukus Design, Moho Designs, Naga Bakehouse, Norm Jolin and Peterman’s Boards & Bowls. Plus local burgers from the prize steer at this year’s Big E will be grilled outside for lunch by The Red Lion Inn, one of the market’s major sponsors. A complete list of vendors for the December markets is detailed below.

Many vendors will be offering items only available at this time of year or that have been created for these markets specifically. All vendors will feature locally grown, produced and crafted products.

Entertainment for the whole family will include live music at both venues and lunch items will be available for purchase. The Great Barrington market will feature a visit from Santa for the kids from 10:30 am – 11:30 am and the Williamstown market will highlight the Berkshire Chorale from 11:30 am to noon to ring in the holiday spirit. The Mocha Jam Band, a perennial favorite, will perform from noon to 1:30 pm as a benefit to the Friendship Center Food Pantry in North Adams.

The December 17th Holiday Farmers’ Markets will take place at the Muddy Brook Elementary School on Monument Valley Road in Great Barrington (10 am – 2 pm) and the Williams College Towne Field House on Latham Street in Williamstown (10 am – 2 pm.)

This week should also prove to be pretty special as we are planning our first ever craft fair here in Valatie, called HANDMADE IN AMERICA, Artisans Along Main Street.
Saturday October 22 from 11:00 till 5:00 PM  Valatie will host over 30 regional Artisans (Take a look at the list on the left) There will be FIVE right here at Great Finds!!!!!

The porch at Great Finds will be overrun by artisans including PAT BARDEN with her beautiful sterling and stone jewelry, simple and elegant, you may have already seen some of Pat’s work here at the Great Finds.
SUSAN BEHENS will bring her wonderful hand knit and crocheted creations including scarves, shrugs, fingerless gloves and hats.
PINEWOODS POTTERS, a Great Finds favorite, will bring their fabulous functional and always unique pottery 

And if that isn’t enough TIERRA FARM will bring their fresh organic roasted nuts,  chocolates and coffee and The BERRY FARM will bring some of their edible delights including free samples…right here in Great Finds yard !

Most  Artisans will be located on Main Street , in tents and also indoors, look for the cornstalk bunches and our ARTISAN HERE signs!

Plenty of free parking is available at the Valatie Medical Arts Building, The Episcopal Church,
The Martin H Glynn School  (Church St.)

and next to the Valatie Senior Center. The Senior Center, located on Williams Street, and directly behind the Valatie Community Theater will have many Artisans both inside and out. There is parking right there AND public restrooms. 

The Theater will be open with a Cider and Donuts fundraiser and their brand new public restrooms will be available!!!!l

For other yummy snacks stop by The Lil Toy Store for Squash Soup thanks to the 4H, or just down the street, a fantastic bowl of  Chili (beef and vegetarian) made specially by Carlucci Simmons Catering.

I’m sure you have noticed some press about this event in local periodicals and for this I want to give a BIG THANK YOU to our good friend Kathleen at Fancy That. Kathleen and her cohorts have a really sweet little store right next to Mikes Deli and Year Round Yarns that you really MUST VISIT.

An afternoon of Fun, Family Food on Warren Street, Hudson, NY

The Hudson Pride Foundation hosts various events throughout the year, most notably being our annual Hudson Pride Parade & Festival, the 3rd weekend in June in Hudson, NY. Supported & staffed by volunteers, the Hudson Pride Foundation aims to foster awareness of LGBT issues, work for equality, be a positive resource for the community, and award scholarships to Columbia County high school seniors for college tuition.

And, William Parker took some great photos of Asia Luna at a recent Philmont Farmers’ Market!

We are in search of oakmoss, which is an essential ingredient and our current supplier no longer carries.

We just ordered from a company in FL and we’ll see how it works.

Paul had ordered the oakmoss from a company in Brooklyn, and right away we knew the oils weren’t quite right for our product.
